Her therapeutic style is grounded in a holistic, strengths-based, and client-centered approach, informed by her diverse background in healthcare and a deep commitment to mental and emotional well-being.
Kara draws on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and solution-focused approaches. Her integrative framework allows her to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each patient. She works with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, parenting challenges, relationship issues, and workplace stress. In addition to Kara's areas of special focus, she is qualified and experienced in treating a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, panic, OCD, PTSD, trauma, grief, burnout, couples and family issues, relationship difficulties, personality disorders, eating disorders, addictive disorders (including alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, and food), ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, dissociative disorders, psychotic disorders, chronic illness adjustment, sleep disorders, somatic conditions, work and career stress, identity and existential concerns, perfectionism, cultural and racial identity stress, and life transitions. Using an eclectic range of evidence-based approaches, she provides compassionate, individualized care tailored to every patient she serves.
Kara completed her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Mental Health Counseling and also holds master’s degrees in Public Health (MPH) and Business Administration (MBA) from Columbia University. Before entering the field of psychotherapy, she worked extensively in healthcare, serving as a hospital operations manager and later as a director at a digital health company specializing in women’s health. These experiences have equipped her with a unique understanding of the healthcare system and the broader determinants of well-being, which she thoughtfully integrates into her clinical work.
