Margaret Goldsmith, LMHC, is a fully licensed psychotherapist who serves as the Clinical Director of Gotham Psychotherapy. Margaret oversees the clinical team and provides individual and couples psychotherapy.
As Clinical Director, Margaret provides leadership and supervision to the clinical team, fostering professional growthand supporting clinicians in delivering high-quality care that supports each patient’s needs and growth. Additionally, Margaret ensures consistency and quality across all patient services at Gotham Psychotherapy. Through her leadership, Margaret helps create an environment where patients receive compassionate, effective, and individualized care.
As a Psychotherapist, Margaret works with a range of patients, including adults, couples, and families, with mild to severe pathology. Through a person-centered and strength-based approach, Margaret weaves together therapeutic techniques that support patients in making actionable changes to their lives. She draws from various therapeutic modalities, including Solution-Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support each patient’s unique needs. In addition, Margaret has received Level 1 Gottman Method clinical training to support her work with couples. Margaret’s clinical focus includes working with individuals navigating depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, and life transitions. She also specializes in substance use, sex, and gambling addiction.
Margaret is a queer-aligned therapist and has extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities in both group and individual settings. With a deep understanding of human behavior and relationships, Margaret helps her patients navigate life’s challenges and develop healthier ways of coping and relating. Her warm demeanor and collaborative style create a safe and supportive environment for patients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Margaret holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York.
In addition to her clinical work, Margaret serves as Special Events Coordinator at Gotham Psychotherapy, overseeing the planning and coordination of internal events that foster staff connection, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture.
