Internship Program

Gotham Psychotherapy offers a comprehensive and enriching internship program for graduate school students pursuing a degree in mental health counseling, clinical social work, or marriage and family therapy. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development within a supportive and collaborative environment.

All therapy sessions are conducted in-person. Gotham Psychotherapy operates from Monday to Friday, with our office hours spanning from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We are committed to being flexible in order to accommodate students’ scheduling needs.

Program Components

  • Learning Objectives
    • Develop proficiency in conducting intake assessments, diagnosing mental health disorders, writing progress notes, and creating treatment plans.
    • Gain experience in providing evidence-based individual counseling to diverse patient populations.
    • Enhance clincial skills by utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques, including crisis intervention, risk assessment, and ethical decision-making.
    • Understand the administrative aspects of how a private psychotherapy practice is operated, including scheduling, record-keeping, and professional networking.
  • Clinical Experience
    • Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with patients under the supervision of Carla Mannino, LCSW-R, CAS, CCTP, CAMS. This includes: conducting intake assessments, providing individual counseling sessions, writing progress notes, and developing treatment plans.
  • Supervision and Mentorship
    • Interns will receive weekly individual and group supervision sessions. This allows for in-depth discussions on cases, therapeutic interventions, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychotropic medications.
    • Additionally, interns will attend training and support meetings with Internship Program Director, Talia Rosenberg, LMSW to ensure an optimal internship experience.
